A photobook release event can be a book handover, signing, talk or online session. The Japanese term owatashi-kai (お渡し会) describes a handover event. The exact ticket, book bundle and organizer’s rules determine what you receive.
Find the official event and exact book
Start with the publisher or the talent’s official announcement, then follow its link to the organizing bookstore or ticket service. Shosen’s event directory is one official place to check bookstore events. A news article can preserve an announcement after its booking period has ended, so use the organizer’s current listing for availability.
For example, Tokuma Shoten’s Omokage announcement described a July 18, 2026 event at Shosen Book Tower, separately from the book’s July 17 release. That is a historical example, not an available ticket offer. Match the Omokage print edition and the event listing before comparing benefits.
Buying the book may not book your place
Some photobook releases have a signing, handover, talk or online session. These often use a specific retailer listing or ticket page. An ordinary copy bought from another shop may not include admission.
Open the organizer’s event page before paying. Check which product or ticket you need and whether there’s a separate reservation after purchase.
Put the right dates in your calendar
The book’s release date, purchase deadline, reservation window and event time can all be different. Note each one that applies to your booking.
Japanese event pages usually give local times. If you’re joining from abroad, convert the start time to your own time zone—and check the reservation deadline too.
What happens at the event?
The ticket description should explain what you receive: a book handover, autograph, brief conversation, posed photo or another benefit. If there are several ticket tiers, compare their actual contents rather than assuming a higher price means more time.
For an in-person event, check the venue, accepted ID and what to bring. Read the camera, gift and fan-letter rules before arriving. Signing names may need to be supplied when you book.
Online events can require an account, app or participation code. Set those up beforehand, keep your code private and follow the organizer’s recording and screenshot rules.
Check once more before you go
Reopen the official event page before traveling or signing in. It’s the place to look for changes, cancellations and refund instructions.
