A familiar collaborator, working entirely on film
Photographer Kazuhei Kimura shot the project in Milan and Como, Italy. According to the publisher, the entire book was photographed using film cameras.
The two new images show how differently the street setting can work. The vertical photograph places Yamada low against textured masonry, with strong light crossing her face and clothing. The wider image opens up the city around her: buildings recede along the road as she raises both hands beside her head.
Kimura and Yamada have worked together before. He photographed her artist portraits and, roughly nine years earlier, the still images used in KANA-BOON’s Namida music video, which featured Yamada. The publisher describes this project as his first photobook published under an actress’s name.
In her supplied comment, Yamada says she is happy to mark fifteen years in entertainment with the book. She recalls Kimura capturing moments naturally amid the urban and natural settings of Milan and Como, and thanks the team and the people who have supported her.
