AKB48’s Ayami Nagatomo to Release Her First Photobook, Unplanned Eyes, on June 5, 2026, Marking Her 10th Debut Anniversary

KADOKAWA Corporation, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo and led by Representative Executive Officer and CEO Takeshi Natsuno, will release Unplanned Eyes, the first photobook by Ayami Nagatomo, known as Ayamin, a 16th-generation AKB48 member and popular performer marking the 10th anniversary of her debut this year, on Friday, June 5, 2026.

Ayamin, who joined AKB48 at 15, is now a 25-year-old woman. The book includes not only the cute, girly, and pop appeal expected of an idol, but also mature expressions she has never shown before.

From the fitting stage, Nagatomo selected outfits herself to bring out her appeal to the fullest. During the shoot, she also discussed hair arrangements with the hair and makeup artist, considering details such as the right hairstyle for each location. She was deeply involved in the photo selection and composition as well, resulting in a book worthy of her 10th debut anniversary.

The shoot took place in Bali, Indonesia, which she visited for the first time. It was conducted at a luxury hotel adjacent to a private beach in Kuta and a villa with an infinity pool overlooking the tropical rainforest in Ubud.

The advance images include Nagatomo walking through Bali in a light-blue one-piece dress, one of her designated penlight colors, yellow and light blue, as well as a yellow swimsuit in the same color scheme. They also reveal looks she describes as fully grown-up: a bright red bikini, pale-blue lingerie, and black lingerie.

Other scenes show her in a milky-white bath and taking on a shower scene in sheer lingerie. The book also includes many of her first back-view shots, in content certain to surprise readers with its boldness.

The cover is a translucent-feeling image of Nagatomo in pale-blue lingerie, and it is her own favorite cut. The title Unplanned Eyes was given by AKB48 general producer Yasushi Akimoto to express Ayamin’s appeal.

The work also includes an essay by Ayamin herself, in which she writes about her current feelings in words true to herself.

In addition to the regular edition, there will be three cover editions in total, including limited editions from Seven Net Shopping and HMV&BOOKS online. Amazon, Seven Net Shopping, HMV&BOOKS online, Rakuten Books, Junkudo Bookstore Nagoya, TSUTAYA EBISUBASHI, and SHOWROOM will offer limited bonuses with a photo print.

A release commemorative handover event has also been announced. Handover events with limited bonuses will be held at HMV&BOOKS SHIBUYA on Sunday, June 7, 2026, and at Junkudo Bookstore Nagoya on Sunday, July 12.

Ayami Nagatomo’s comment

I am so happy to be able to release the photobook I had secretly hoped to make! This time, surrounded by Bali’s beautiful beaches and abundant nature, I was photographed in many different ways. I took on new challenges, and the book is filled with many expressions that can only be seen in this photobook. It has truly become the best book! I hope many people will pick it up and make lots of eye contact with the Unplanned Eyes that can only be found here!

Comment from AKB48 general producer Yasushi Akimoto

In front of her eyes, I could be honest.

Surely, that is because they shine with the light polished by the sweat and tears she has shed time and again.

This gaze will not betray you.
